How to Uninstall Completely =============================== Complete unisntallation deletes all files which install from this CD. Note: If you use other TSP series printer driver or Star printer in USB Vendor Class mode, do not execute complete uninstaller. 1. Power OFF the printer. 2. Execute uninstaller to add two command line options as followings. D:\Win2K_XP_Vista\Setup.exe /X /V"ALLDELETE=1" or you can execute complete uninstall with bat file. D:\Win2K_XP_Vista\Sub\AllDelete.bat 3. After finish to uninstall files, reboot PC. "D" is current CD-ROM drive. With complete uninstallation, could not delete USB Vendor class driver, to delete USB Vendor class driver, Power ON the printer, execute device manager, select "SMJ USB Device" then right click and delete it. Then power off the printer and reboot PC. Execute complete uninstallation (except USB Vendor class driver), to add command line options as followings. D:\Win2K_XP_Vista\Setup.exe /X /V"ALLDELETE=1" or you can execute complete uninstall with bat file. D:\Win2K_XP_Vista\Sub\AllDelete.bat "D" is current CD-ROM drive. ======================== 2. Silent Installations ======================== Silent installations are installations that run without a user interface. you can run the command Setup.exe /s /v"/qn" SetupXX.exe pass is D:\Win2K_XP_Vista\Setup.exe column (where D is the drive letter of your CD). =============================== 3. Silent Uninstallations =============================== Silent Uninstallation is uninstallation that no on-screeen messages will be displayed at any time during the execution of the Silent Uninstallation. you can run the command msiexec.exe /qn /x {D4CED2FB-CB81-4BBB-853A-9B25CE64CB35} =================================================================== 4. How to Install Printer Driver on Windows 2000/XP/Vista manually =================================================================== In the special environment such as Windows XP Embedded, the installer might not work correctly. If you get any error using standard intsller, plesase install driver mannualy. This install set is located at "D:\Win2K_XP_Vista\Driver\[Printer Model Name]_PrinterDriver_Vista_XP_2K.zip" column (where D is the drive letter of your CD). ======================================================================== 5. How to Install TSP700II CD on Windows 2000 Without Service Pack/SP1/SP2 ======================================================================== We prepare the installer for Windows 2000 Without Service Pack/SP1/SP2. This installer installs software except TSP700II Configuration Utility. Location is "D:\Win2K_XP_Vista\Sub\Setup_for_Win2K_SP2\Setup.exe" column (where D is the drive letter of your CD). ============================================== 6. Restrictions of Virtual Port Emulator ============================================== Please note that the Virtual Port Emulator bundled in the Windows Driver has following functional restrictions. // Windows Vista/XP SP2 // 1. Name of the Printer Queue When USB Printer Class is used, 2 byte character (Full Size characters) cannot be used for the Queue Name. Please use ASCII characters for Printer Queue Name. 2. Printer Status in STAR-Line Mode It is possible to get status for the application using commands such as , but ASB (Auto status back) is not available. 3. Printer Status in ESC/POS Mode When not using "Value Add" feature, it is impossible to get the printer status in ESC/POS Mode. When using "Value Add" feature, it is possible to get the printer status by commands(n) in ESC/POS Mode. 4. OPOS It is impossible to use TSP700II OPOS Driver to the Virtual Port generated for USB Printer Class. // Windows 2K (SP3 or later) and Windows XP (SP1 or former) // 1. Name of the Printer Queue When USB Printer Class is used, 2 byte character (Full Size characters) cannot be used for the Queue Name. Please use ASCII characters for Printer Queue Name. 2. Printer Status It is impossible to get the printer status. ============================================ 7. Setting for Virtual Port Emulator ============================================ You need to change Virtual Port Emulator setting to be able to use correct setting with print application or driver according to your application flow control. Note, that there is no need to set up your virtual port emulator if your application runs in Windows Vista/XP Service Pack 2. The Virtual Port Emulator can select the following 5 kinds of "Data flow control". Do not worry about other settings like baud rate, data length, parity, and stop bit. // Setting Guideline // Setting 0 : Default setting. Virtual Port Emualation is set "Setting 0" when you install from CD. Use DSR/CTS signals for data flow control. Most application use this setting. Setting 1 : Use DSR signal for data flow control, and use CTS signal for printer ON/OFF line detection. Setting 2 : Use CTS signal for data flow control, and use DSR signal for printer ON/OFF line detection. Setting 3 : NO flow control. Setting 4 : Use software control (XON/XOFF) This CD includes above 5 kinds setttings xml files. These setting files are located at Setting 0 D:\Win2K_XP_Vista\Sub\VirtualPortEmulator\Setting0\portemu_config2.xml Setting 1 D:\Win2K_XP_Vista\Sub\VirtualPortEmulator\Setting1\portemu_config2.xml Setting 2 D:\Win2K_XP_Vista\Sub\VirtualPortEmulator\Setting2\portemu_config2.xml Setting 3 D:\Win2K_XP_Vista\Sub\VirtualPortEmulator\Setting3\portemu_config2.xml Setting 4 D:\Win2K_XP_Vista\Sub\VirtualPortEmulator\Setting4\portemu_config2.xml (where D is the drive lette of your CD) // How to change setting (by batch file)// There are two ways to change the setting: 1) Execute the batch file 2) Use the Virtual Port Emulator Setting Tool If selected option 2), refer to "8. How to Install Virtual Port Emulator Setting Tool" "9. How to Use Virtual Port Emulator Setting Tool" 1. Copy xml file Copy xml file which you would like to use from CD to %ProgramFiles%\StarMicronics\VirtualPortEmulator\Configuration folder. 2. Reboot Virtual Port Emulator It is necessary to reboot Virtual Port Emulator to make the setting change of the Virtual Port Emulator effective. Stop Virtual Port Emulator Service at TSP700II configuration utility, then Start again. Also, you can use "batch file (CopySetting.bat)" in same folder as xml file. This batch file set Virtual Port Emulator setting change automatically. Please refer to this batch file when you copy xml file manually. 3. Test Please confirm the print after the setting is changed from the print application which you use. If you can not print correctly, please try another setting. ====================================================== 8. How to Install Virtual Port Emulator Setting Tool ====================================================== You need to change Virtual Port Emulator setting to be able to use correct setting with print application or driver according to your application flow control. Note, that there is no need to install this setting tool if your application runs in Windows Vista/XP Service Pack 2. Note, that Microsoft .NET Framework v2.0 required to run this tool. There are two ways to change the setting: 1) Execute the batch file 2) Use the Virtua Port Emulator Setting Tool If selected option 1), refer to "7. Setting for Virtual Port Emulator" This CD includes Virtual Port Emulator Setting Tool. The setting tool installation method depends on whether TSP700II has already been installed or not. Please see the following detail. 1-1. The setting tool installation method when TSP700II has not been installed yet. ============================================ 1. On "Setup Type" window for the installation, select "Custom" and press "Next". 2. Left click the "Virtual Port Emulator Setting Tool" icon on "Custom Setup", then select "This feature will installed on local hard drive" and press "Next". 3. Press "Install" and finish the installation. 1-2. The setting tool installation method when TSP700II has already been installed. ============================================ 1. Execute the installer in this CD. 2. After "InstallShield Wizard" starts, press "Next", then, select "Modify" on "Program Maintenance" and press "Next". 3. Left click the "SDK" icon on "Custom Setup", then select "This feature will installed on local hard drive" and press "Next". 4. Press "Install" and finish the installation. =============================================== 9. How to Use Virtual Port Emulator Setting Tool =============================================== // How to change setting // 1. Print test page to the virtual port connected with TSP700II printer from the application or the driver you want to use. 2. Quit all applications using any virtual ports. 3. Launch the tool by clicking the shortcut: "Start"menu -> "All Programs" -> "StarMicronics" -> "(TSP700II Printer Model Name)" -> "Utility" -> "Virtual Port Emulator Setting Tool" If any question, click "Yes". 4. Select the virtual port used at test printing. 5. Click "Open and Set Port" button to change setting. This tool will figure out the right port setting automatically, and reboot the virtual port emulator service. According to the application, you may then see another dialog box for advanced setting. Choose an appropriate setting while referring the setting explanation. 6. Click OK to close the tool. // How to revert setting // If you want to revert the setting to the default (Setting 0) after CD installation: Left click on the menu bar item: "Setting" -> "Restore Defaults" ================================================================= 10.
